The Vilnius Church of St. Johns, located in the Old Town within the territory of Vilnius University, combines Gothic, Baroque, and Classicist styles. Built between 1387 and 1426 on the initiative of Jogaila, the church has witnessed numerous historical events, being destroyed and rebuilt after fires and wars. Its bell tower, constructed in 1610, is the tallest structure in Vilnius Old Town (69 m) and features a Foucault pendulum. After the war in 1655, the church was rebuilt but suffered fires in 1737 and 1741. During its restoration, new organs were installed, and in 2000, the grand organs, now the largest in Lithuania, were consecrated. Since 1773, the church has belonged to Vilnius University and is renowned for its artistic treasures.
