The town of Salantai surprises with its unexpected attractions, one of which is a private zoo founded by local resident Mindaugas Ivanauskas. Covering 20 acres, visitors can see up to 60 species of rare birds, as well as several dozen mammals and hoofed animals. Among its inhabitants are one of the rarest chickens in Lithuania, the Orlovskaya fighting hen, South American peccaries, cave geese, and spiny rabbits.
The zoo also brings a touch of Africa, with breeds such as Barbary sheep, known for their loyalty to their partners. A true spectacle awaits at the white peacock enclosure, where their impressive fanned tail creates an unforgettable sight. The Salantai Zoo is a place where visitors can not only encounter exotic animals but also immerse themselves in the world of nature.
