The Museum of Exile and Resistance in Tauragė is a unique place located in the former NKVD headquarters, where the basement cells and interrogation rooms bear witness to one of the darkest periods of history. The exhibition reveals the stories of the struggles and sufferings of exiles, partisans, and resistance fighters, enriched with interactive elements. Visitors can experience an interactive interrogation room, see a reconstruction of an authentic partisan bunker-hideout, and watch an NKVD training film about bunker searches. Modern technologies, such as holograms, bring the exhibition to life. The museum also features an exhibition dedicated to the Sąjūdis (the Lithuanian independence movement), reminding visitors of key events in Lithuania’s history and Tauragė’s significant role in the country’s path to independence.
