Sofija Kymantaitė-Čiurlionienė’s birthplace in Joniškis has become an important cultural site dedicated to this Lithuanian writer and public figure. The 2019 project "Sofija Kymantaitė-Čiurlionienė’s Birthplace – Public Exhibition" provided the opportunity to publicly present her life and works. The exhibition, housed in a building belonging to the Joniškis Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, has become a place of memory where Sofija Kymantaitė-Čiurlionienė’s contributions to literature and art are showcased. The project was partially funded by the Lithuanian Council for Culture.

Sofija Kymantaitė-Čiurlionienė’s birthplace in the town of Joniškis has become a key cultural object, contributing to the preservation of Lithuania’s historical and literary heritage. Sofija Kymantaitė-Čiurlionienė, born in 1886 in Joniškis, was not only a poet
and playwright but also a literary and art critic who contributed to the development of Lithuanian culture and art. The exhibition allows visitors to explore her life and works, reflecting the changes of a modernizing society. The Joniškis region and this cultural site are significant for anyone interested in Lithuania’s cultural heritage and the development of modernism in the country. The project was partially supported by the Lithuanian Council for Culture and implemented with the active participation of the local community.
