Žagarė's Dune is a hill ridge formed during the glacial period, consisting of sand and gravel. It is one of the NATURA 2000 areas in the Žagarė Regional Park, where visitors can enjoy nature, observe birds, animals, and insects. The 3.6 km long interpretive trail around the Žagarė Dune introduces visitors to the area's natural values. The trail features pavilions, observation towers, information panels, campfire sites, a basketball court, and other convenient infrastructure. One of the stops along the trail is the Žagarė II Hill Fort, known as Žvelgaitis Hill. According to legends, this is where the 13th-century Lithuanian prince Žvelgaitis' castle once stood. Archaeologists suggest that this site could have been the location of a wooden castle belonging to the Archbishop of Riga or the Livonian Order. From the 16th to 18th centuries, it was the site of the Old Žagarė manor.
