The Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Joniškis is a national cultural monument in the historicist style. Built in 1901, it is notable for its 59.83-meter tall tower-bell tower, stained glass windows, oak doors, and the saint sculptures by Vincentas Jakševičius.
Inside, visitors can admire seven altars, 18th-century bells, Karl Hermann’s organ, and mosaic floors. Among the artistic treasures are a 17th-century painting of St. Martinijonas and Adam Werno’s work “Guardian Angel.”
In 2017, mechanical clocks were installed in the church tower, striking the hours and lighting up at night. The church is accessible to visitors with mobility impairments.
