Near the Baltic Mythology Park in Sausdravai, close to the former Bertašiai homestead, a wooden oak cross stands as a reminder of the heroism of freedom fighter Jurgis Augutis-Donelis (Vizbutas). On October 14, 1950, this location became the final resting place of a partisan from Povilas Mažutis’ squad of the Darbėnai Company, part of the Sword Unit in the Samogitian District. He was born in 1920.
The memorial cross, crafted by folk artist Raimundas Puškorius, rests on a base of fieldstones. An inscription carved into the oak reads, “Eternal light shine upon you, partisan Donelis,” commemorating the fighter’s sacrifice for Lithuania’s freedom. This symbolic monument invites visitors to pause, remember the heroes of history, and feel a connection to the past.
