The Lankupiai Suspension Bridge is an impressive technical monument and the longest bridge of its kind in Lithuania. This metal bridge, covered with wooden planks, spans 130 meters in length and 1.4 meters in width, crossing the widest stretch of the Minija River. Built in 1900, it connects the Klaipėda and Šilutė district municipalities in the village of Lankupiai. The bridge has undergone two restorations, in 2000 and 2014, to preserve this historic structure.
Just a few hundred meters from the bridge lies the Wilhelm Canal with its original lock, recognized as a Lithuanian technical heritage site. The Lankupiai Bridge and canal are significant engineering monuments that symbolize the region's technological advancement. The bridge is not only a historical treasure but also a popular tourist attraction, ideal for exploring nature and enjoying the scenic views of the Minija River Valley.
