The Vainutas St. John the Baptist Church is a Neo-Baroque structure that emerged under challenging historical circumstances. In 1856, a wooden church was built in Vainutas, but Bishop Motiejus Valančius encouraged the construction of a brick church. Construction began in 1860, but the project was lost during the 1863 uprising, and the authorities halted the work. Permission to continue was granted only in 1866, and the church was completed in 1869.
This rectangular, twin-towered church with an apse features three altars, and its churchyard is enclosed by a stone masonry fence.
