The Nalšia Museum in Švenčionys, founded in February 1945, has become a significant guardian of cultural and historical heritage. Initially, it consisted of school teaching materials, collections of minerals, stone axes, coins, and banknotes. In November 1992, upon receiving the name Nalšia Museum, it expanded its activities to include the collection of exhibits related to history, nature, archaeology, crafts, trades, and household items. The museum began organizing expeditions to collect and study the region's ethnocultural heritage. Nalšia Museum currently houses more than 64,000 exhibits, including unique Stone and Bronze Age archaeological finds from the Kretuonas lakeside settlements, Vaclav IV Prague groschen, Sigismund Augustus half-groschen, Russian kopecks, and collections of 20th-century coins and banknotes.

These include dowry chests, wardrobes, buffets, and other household items from urban life. Nalšia Museum is an important cultural and educational center, promoting interest in the region's history, nature, and ethnoculture.
