The President Kazys Grinius Bridge, also known as the Šlažai Bridge, was built in 1926 near Žalgiriai village on the road to Rusnė. This 289-meter-long bridge with 13 arches is unique—it is not designed to connect two riverbanks but to allow floodwaters to flow during the Nemunas River's inundation of the Rusnė region.

In 2016, marking 90 years since its construction, the bridge was officially named after President Kazys Grinius, and a commemorative plaque bearing his likeness was unveiled.

The President Kazys Grinius Bridge, also referred to as the Šlažai Bridge, is a remarkable engineering structure located near Šilutė, close to Žalgiriai village, on the way to Rusnė. Built in 1926, the bridge serves a specific function during spring floods, facilitating the drainage of floodwaters when the Nemunas River overflows into the lowlands of the Rusnė region. Unlike traditional bridges, it does not connect two riverbanks but spans over a flood channel. Its impressive design features 13 arches and a total length of 289 meters. In 2016, to commemorate the 90th anniversary of its construction, the bridge was officially named after Lithuanian President Kazys Grinius. A memorial plaque with a bas-relief of President Grinius was also unveiled on the bridge. This structure represents not only unique hydraulic engineering but also Lithuania's history and cultural heritage.
