North of Katyčiai, a water mill and a sawmill were constructed in 1926, representing significant examples of the region's industrial heritage. These structures highlight the technological advancements of that era. Initially, the mill and sawmill were powered by water and steam, utilizing nearby water sources.
The water mill played a crucial role in the local community, processing grain into flour. The sawmill supported the supply of construction materials by cutting wood.
Later, the mill was modernized, with its mechanisms adapted to run on electricity, while much of the authentic structure was preserved. Although the sawmill has not survived, the water mill still stands as a living symbol of industrial heritage.
