The Meteliai Rapids is an exceptionally beautiful spot to admire the Šventoji River. In this section, the river’s flow changes dramatically: a calm current transforms into a faster stream, creating natural cascades and rocky formations. Shallow, rocky, and winding, the Šventoji forms a stunning sandy riverside bluff here, making it an ideal place to relax and enjoy nature.
In its middle course, the Šventoji was historically significant as a dividing river, marking the boundary between communities with different customs and traditions. This distinction is evident in the burial mound traditions: on the eastern bank, including the Upninkai area, burial mounds were very common, while they were much rarer on the western side.
