Padaigai Hillfort, also known as Smailiakalnis, is located on the edge of a high hill overlooking the valley on the right bank of the Neris River. The hillfort is surrounded by a 15-meter-wide embankment, though it was partially damaged by trenches dug during wartime. Dating back to the 1st millennium, Padaigai Hillfort holds significant historical value as one of Lithuania's oldest defensive sites.
At the northern foot of the hillfort, remnants of a settlement were discovered, indicating that the area served not only as a defensive structure but also as a residential site. Although the hillfort was once overgrown with mixed forest, it has since been restored and maintained, becoming a popular destination where visitors can appreciate both its historical significance and the surrounding natural beauty.
