Abraomas Kulvietis (1510–1545), a pioneer of Lithuanian literature and founder of the first higher education institution in Lithuania, hailed from the Kulva area. His memory is honored by an obelisk near Kulva and a sculpture in Jonava’s Santarvės Square, created by sculptors Konstantinas Bogdanas and Mindaugas Šnipas.
