The Norviliškės Monastery is located about 12 kilometers east of Dieveniškės, near the Belarusian border, in the Dieveniškės "appendix." While often referred to solely as a monastery, its history began as a Renaissance-era manor. In the early 17th century, a brick monastery was built, inspired by the Mitchyb Dolny model in Slovakia’s High Tatras.
In 1832, the Norviliškės Monastery housed eight monks—four from the Grand Duchy of Lithuania and four from the Kingdom of Poland. Unfortunately, after its closure, the monastery was repurposed as military barracks and later served as an agricultural school (1900–1915). In 1918, it was adapted for use as a rectory. Today, Norviliškės Monastery is a preserved historical and cultural site, functioning as a tourist complex.
