Auksūdis II Hillfort, also known as Pilale or Pilaitė Hill, stands on a high elevation and is shrouded in mystery. This hillfort, covered with trees, hides the secrets of an ancient settlement that existed in the first half of the 1st millennium. The remains of the defensive rampart testify to the fortifications that once protected the people who lived here. Later, between the 7th and 12th centuries, a Curonian cemetery operated in this area, also known as Pilale.

The stories about the hillfort are full of mysticism: mysterious flames are said to burn here at night, and in ancient times, the hill was believed to be a pagan temple where sacrifices were made to the gods. Even the name of the area, Auksūdis, is thought to be derived from these rituals. The legend also speaks of a mysterious warrior who would ride down from the hill and then disappear again.
