The Darbėnai Cemetery, established in 1795, preserves unique elements of Samogitian heritage and history. In the oldest section, a wooden belfry remains, reflecting the traditional sacred architecture of this region. At the gates, there stands a remarkable stone monument with a relief cross and an inscription from 1881, symbolizing the spiritual importance of earlier times.
In the newer section of the cemetery, there is a wooden memorial to the partisans, created by artist Rita Gorodeckienė and architect Alfredas G. Tiškus. Nearby is a special memorial site: in 1993 and 1998, the remains of partisans from the "Sword" battalion, found in the local area, were reburied here, symbolizing the struggle for freedom and the remembrance of the nation. This cemetery serves as a guardian of history and memory, inviting reflection on the significance of the past.
