A monument in Kretinga commemorates Father Ambraziejus Pabrėža, a clergyman who helped the poor and spread love for his homeland and the Lithuanian language. Many people in Kretinga consider him a saint, visiting his grave in the old town cemetery to ask for intercession and blessings. Before World War II, the Franciscans built a small chapel over his grave, and in 1993, a monument created by sculptor A. Bosas was erected in front of the Franciscan monastery and church.
A high school in Kretinga is named after Father Ambraziejus, with a wooden statue standing near the school. The city also has a street named after him, another testament to the legacy of this prominent clergyman.
