Grūšlaukės Cemetery is a remarkable place where prominent creators and fighters of the region are laid to rest. Among those buried here are woodcarvers Antanas Klanius-Klanevičius (1830–1920) and Juozapas Paulauskas (1860–1945), the famous sculptor Antanas Mončys (1921–1993), and Adolfas Kontrimas (1917–2006), a member of the Lithuanian Freedom Struggle Movement. At the center of the cemetery stands a wooden chapel, adorned with unique wall paintings from 1749. This site is not only a place of eternal rest but also a testament to the rich history and art of the region.
