The gates of Kretinga Cemetery, built in 1913, stand out with their neo-Gothic architecture and adornment. They were designed by the Polish-born architect Józef Padlewski, who was working in Saint Petersburg at the time. The gates harmoniously complement the nearby chapel-mausoleum, creating a cohesive historical ensemble.
These three-part gates, 9.8 meters high and 8.4 meters wide, feature an open central arch and two side openings with small towers. Viewed from Vilniaus Street, the impressive relief inscriptions can be seen: on the left side, "ANNO DOMINI" (in the year of the Lord), and on the right, "MCMXIII" (1913). These gates are not only a symbol of the cemetery but also an important part of Kretinga's history and cultural heritage.
