Kretinga, one of the oldest towns in Western Lithuania, was first mentioned in 1252 and received Magdeburg rights on January 23, 1609. The town is known for its long-standing church, Franciscan monastery, and the legendary Winter Garden established in the Tiškevičiai family palace. However, today, Kretinga attracts not only for its historical architecture but also for its modern public spaces.
In 2022, a floating fountain was installed in Pastauninkas pond, near the Franciscan Gymnasium, as an initiative by the local residents. Its water jet, reaching up to 12 meters high, has become a new symbol of the town. This landmark quickly caught the attention of the people of Kretinga and visitors, with the pond's shore often becoming a popular photo backdrop. The historical buildings, greenery, church towers, and the peaceful sound of the fountain create a place where one can sit, relax, and enjoy the surroundings.
