The family chapel of the Tiškevičiai counts as one of the most intriguing historical sites in Kretinga, located within the old cemetery. In 2014, family sarcophagi were discovered in the chapel’s basement, resting on concrete pedestals. Research revealed that Count Aleksandras had hidden the remains of his parents, children, sister-in-law, and governess here before the war. The restored sarcophagi can now be viewed in the chapel’s mausoleum.

The chapel itself is equally impressive. It is the first sacred building in Lithuania designed by the Swedish architect Karl Eduard Strandman. The neo-Gothic style chapel, with its soaring spires and starry-painted vaulted ceiling, resembles the heavens, with fragments of the original artwork still visible.

This chapel is considered one of the most beautiful historical and architectural monuments of Kretinga, inviting visitors to delve into the mysteries of the Tiškevičiai family's legacy.
