Jonas Žitkus was a talented photographer from Panevėžys, who established a modern photo studio on Povilas Puzinas Street in 1931. In 1941, he captured the crimes committed by the Soviets in the NKVD basement of Panevėžys and the solemn funerals of the victims. These photographs were displayed in the exhibition "Red Terror in Lithuania," which became an important testimony of history.
