On Šv. Zitos Street in Panevėžys stands a two-story wooden house where, from 1932 until her death, Gabrielle Petkevičaitė-Bitė – a teacher, writer, member of the Constituent Assembly, and the first woman to run for president – lived. This interwar leader actively fought for gender equality. Today, the building houses private apartments, the Panevėžys branch of the Artists' Union, and spaces for the "Bitės namai" association. A memorial plaque stands by the house, commemorating the life of this prominent figure.
