Vladas Kuzma was an innovative surgeon, the first in Lithuania to perform a blood transfusion and to develop a unique method for stomach surgery. He is considered the pioneer of transplantation medicine in Lithuania. A memorial plaque stands by his house, and the building itself is included in the list of Lithuanian cultural heritage sites.
