Benjamin Zuskin was a renowned Jewish director and actor who lived in Panevėžys from 1899 to 1915. From 1936, he led the State Jewish Theatre, but in 1952, he was executed during Soviet repressions. A memorial plaque has been installed in Panevėžys in his honor.
