Between 1920 and 1939, the Lithuanian–Polish demarcation line ran through the fields of Baltamiškis village, guarded by the Trakai Bar border guards. On October 1, 1931, Polish border guards prohibited crossing the administrative border and dug a trench along the occupied Lithuanian territory. On October 4 of the same year, Polish border guards shot and killed Lithuanian border police officer Jurgis Kybartas.
