In Nasrėnai village, near Kretinga, stands the Bishop Motiejus Valančius Birthplace Museum, where visitors can learn about the life of one of the most prominent figures of 19th-century Lithuania. The bishop, who inspired the Temperance Movement, ordained hundreds of priests, and authored numerous literary works, began his journey in this very place. Although the original house of the estate has not survived, the museum is located in a building next to it. Here, visitors can learn about Valančius' childhood, and in the 18th-century barn that remains, there is an ethnographic exhibit showcasing a housekeeper's chamber, a maid's room, and storage spaces for tools and grains. One of the most interesting exhibits in the museum is a sculpture dedicated to the potato, highlighting the importance of this vegetable in Lithuanian culture.
