Standard Memorial Marker

In the Vaineikiai Forest, within the Vaineikiai Forestry, a standard memorial marker honors Juozas Katkus, leader of the Kardo Unit, and partisans Steponas Motiejauskas and Petras Žeimys of the Vizbutas Squad, who perished on October 28, 1950. The monument was built in 2015 and unveiled on May 13, 2016, through the initiative of Kūlupėnai Eldership. It was designed by Romas Navickas.
This memorial marker serves as a reminder of significant stories from the freedom struggles and holds a prominent place on the map of Lithuania’s partisan heritage. The Vaineikiai Forest offers visitors a chance to reflect on the sacrifices of freedom fighters and explore the history of this region.
