In Didieji Žalimai Village, within the Žalimai Forest (Vaineikiai Forestry, Block 23, Plot 21), stands a memorial cross dedicated to Pranas Benečius, Konstantinas Lenkauskis, and partisan Pranas Jurkus, members of the Kardo Unit staff, who perished on April 21, 1948. The cross was erected in 1998 through the initiative of Stasys Burba and its creator, Adolfas Kontrimas.
This memorial site symbolizes the partisans’ sacrifice in the fight for Lithuania’s freedom. Visitors are invited to learn about the history of the region and honor the fallen freedom fighters. Žalimai Forest is an important part of Lithuania’s partisan heritage in the Kretinga District.
