The memorial composition honors the partisans and freedom fighters who fought for Lithuania's independence between 1940 and 1952. Located in Žvainiai Village, on Kalno Street, it symbolizes sacrifice for freedom.
The memorial was unveiled on August 23, 1996, marking the Day of the Baltic Way. It was designed by architect Edmundas Giedrimas and brought to fruition through the initiative of Stanislovas Srėbalius, commander of the Žemaitija Division of the Lithuanian Riflemen's Union. The monument invites reflection on the significance of the freedom struggles and honors the memory of those who fought for independence.
