In Pasvalys, marked in the annals of history by the 1557 event when Sigismund Augustus signed decisive treaties with the Livonian Order, solidifying the importance and influence of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania in the region. Today, a monument standing in the city center – a 5-meter-high granite pedestal with a bronze bust of the ruler – serves as a unique memorial to Sigismund Augustus throughout Lithuania, emphasizing his significance in the country's history.
The project was implemented and funded by an honorary citizen of Pasvalys, renowned businessman Dr. Pranas Kiznys, and the monument was created by talented Ukrainian artists Boris Krylov and Oles Sydoruk, in collaboration with Lithuanian artist Rimantas Dichavičius. This monument has become not only a symbol of respect and remembrance but also a part of cultural heritage, contributing to the identity of Pasvalys and its list of attractions.
