In the village of Kumpikai, a monumental cross honors Jonas and Barbora Kontrimas, the parents of partisans, and their family members, who dedicated their lives to the fight for Lithuania's freedom. This site was home to Kazimieras Kontrimas, leader of the Kardo Unit of the Žemaičiai District, as well as partisans Antanas, Pranas, and Adolfas Kontrimas. Other family members, including exiles Jonas and Augustas Kontrimas and Stanislava and Eleonora Kontrimaitės, also lived here.
The cross was erected in 1989 on the initiative of Pranas Kontrimas, replacing a cross originally built in 1947. In 2018, an additional commemorative marker was installed next to the cross, symbolizing the family's significant role in the history of Lithuania's fight for freedom.
