In the village of Kumpikai, at the site of the former homestead of Petras Laukys, stands a monumental cross dedicated to Kazimieras Kontrimas, leader of the Kardo Unit of the Žemaičiai District. He was killed here on October 30, 1952. The cross commemorates his heroic memory and sacrifice in the fight for Lithuania's freedom.
Erected in 1999, the memorial was created by Adolfas Kontrimas, Kazimieras’ brother and a participant in the freedom struggles. The cross serves as a poignant reminder of the partisan battles in the Grūšlaukė Forest and the local community’s determination to achieve independence.
