In the churchyard of Darbėnai's St. Peter and Paul Church (Turgaus St.) stands a monumental cross dedicated to the mothers of the Darbėnai region. It honors the women whose sons and daughters sacrificed their lives in the fight for Lithuania's freedom and independence from 1944 to 1953.
This memorial, erected in 2001 by the Darbėnai branch of the Lithuanian Christian Democratic Party, serves as a tribute not only to the families of freedom fighters but also as a historical testament to Lithuania's resistance struggles.
