A monumental cross and memorial plaque have been erected along the Dopultis (Pastauninkas) stream in Kretinga to honor the partisans of the Žemaičiai Military District's Kardo Detachment who perished in the Kretinga region between 1945 and 1952 or were tortured to death in NKVD–MGB headquarters. This memorial symbolizes the fight for Lithuania’s freedom and pays tribute to those who sacrificed their lives for independence.
The monument was initiated by freedom fighter Julijonas Mickus. The cross was created by Ramutis Mažeika in 2000, and the plaque was designed by Haroldas Pocevičius in 2005. The memorial is located near Jurgis Pabrėža University Gymnasium at Savanorių St. 56A.
