Writer, lawyer, and educator P. Kesiūnas was born in 1893 in Stenioniai village, Rokiškis district. He graduated from Panevėžys Gymnasium and pursued studies at the Faculty of Humanities at Lithuania University and the Faculty of Law at Vytautas Magnus University, where he earned a doctorate in law. In 1951, he completed studies at Jones Commercial School in Chicago.
From an early age, Kesiūnas was actively involved in cultural and educational activities. Before World War I, he organized Lithuanian cultural evenings and formed a Aušrininkai circle at Panevėžys Gymnasium. In 1944, he founded and directed the Atžalynas theater in Hanau. He was a member of the Student Humanities Society, the Lithuanian Teachers' Professional Union, and the Lawyers' Society, contributing significantly to education, culture, and public life.
