Church of St. John the Apostle and Evangelist in Lukštai

In 1908, Rokiškis Count Jonas Pšezdeckis sought permission to establish a chapel in the brick distillery building of the Lukštai Manor. However, it was determined that the building’s walls were too weak for such a purpose. Construction of the chapel faced challenges due to deviations from the project plan, and during World War I, some building materials were stolen. The church was eventually completed in 1925.
The stone masonry structure features neo-Romanesque and neo-Byzantine architectural elements. The main altar is adorned with two paintings by renowned artist V. Palaima. This church serves as both a religious and cultural heritage site, attracting architecture and history enthusiasts alike.
