Once a region steeped in pagan traditions until 1780, Panemunys now captivates visitors with the magnificent Church of the Holy Trinity, whose spires rise high into the sky. The current stone-and-brick church, featuring neo-Romanesque and neo-Gothic architectural elements, was constructed between 1927 and 1936 under the initiative of priest Vincentas Norkus.
This region has produced three notable priests. Among them is Vladas Mironas, a significant political figure in Lithuania’s history. Other influential figures include Romualdas Stakėnas, a translator of religious texts and promoter of Lithuanian culture, and Konstantinas Stašys, one of the first to deliver sermons in Lithuanian. The Church of the Holy Trinity and its history are a valuable part of Lithuania's cultural and sacred heritage.
