Igariai Boulder Field

Located in Igariai village, Mosėdis eldership, Skuodas district, the Igariai Boulder Field is a unique natural heritage site spanning approximately 10.5 hectares. This field is characterized by dense accumulations of boulders of various sizes, ranging from 0.4 to 10 meters in diameter, with some reaching heights of up to 2.5 meters. Most of the boulders naturally settled in this area during the last Ice Age, around 12–13 thousand years ago.
The Igariai Boulder Field also showcases traces of ancient agricultural practices, with stone walls, known locally as "krūsnys," made from stacked boulders visible throughout the area. This is one of the few remaining boulder fields in Lithuania that holds both natural and cultural significance, offering insights into the region's geological past and human interaction with the landscape.
