In Antanašė village, within the Obeliai subdistrict, stands a site commemorating the tragic events of August 25, 1941, when 1,160 Jews from the communities of Kamajai, Rokiškis, Pandėlys, and Obeliai were murdered. The majority, comprising mostly women and children, were gathered at the Antanašė manor. On the eve of the massacre, war prisoners dug two large pits at the edge of Degsnė forest, where the victims were subsequently buried. According to the report by K. Jäger, the victims included 112 men, 627 women, and 421 children. This site serves as a testament to the horrors of the Holocaust and is an important location for historical memory and tourism, inviting visitors to remember and honor the memory of the innocent lives lost.
