Truikiai Spring, also known as Šmita’s spring, is located in Skuodas district, Truikiai village, near the road to Mažeikiai. This unique natural monument is nestled among ravines and attracts visitors with its clear and cool water. The surroundings are rich in natural beauty: verdant trees and the crystal waters of the spring. From the spring, the Šaltupis stream begins, flowing into the Guntinas stream. In 1980, the spring was recognized as a hydrological monument and has been on the protected objects list since 2002.

Truikiai Spring, also known as Šmita’s spring, is one of the unique natural values in Skuodas district, Truikiai village. It is a popular spot attracting visitors who want to enjoy the clear, cool water and the tranquility provided by the natural surroundings. The spring is hidden between ravines and located at the bottom of a ravine; its water is exceptionally clear and varies in shades from light gray to yellowish-brown. There are two flows at this site – one wider and lighter, and the other narrower and darker. From the spring flows Šaltupis, which meanders through rocks and tree roots and joins the Guntinas stream, creating a remarkable landscape. Truikiai Spring has maintained its vitality over

the years, despite drainage works in the surrounding area in the early 20th century. In 1974, a stone bridge was built here, along with benches and steps, and a "fairy tale house" was erected on the slope, offering a panoramic view of the spring. The spring was recognized as a hydrological natural monument in 1980 and declared a hydrogeological feature in 1999. In 2002, it was listed among Lithuania's protected natural heritage sites, preserving it for future generations. Historically, there is a legend about the healing powers of the spring – people believed that the water could alleviate symptoms of joint, eye, and various other ailments, leading people to come for treatment from distant places.
