In 1857, in the Kėdainiai district's village of Pašušvis, Teodora Butlerytė-Pilsudska, the grandmother of Polish Marshal J. Pilsudski, built the Church of Our Lady of Sorrows, the Consoler, which features motifs of folk architecture. Born in 1811, Teodora was educated at the Visitation nuns' convent in Vilnius and later became a landowner in Pašušvis. The construction of the church was her initiative, and by contributing to it, she became a significant figure in the Pajieslis community. The church, relocated from Pašušvis to its current location, is renowned for its unique architectural style that
blends Classicism and Baroque elements. The facade is distinguished by wooden columns and an open portico, while the interior boasts impressive Neo-Baroque altars. Teodora Pilsudska, who played a significant role not only in the church but also in the local community's life, died in 1886 and was buried next to the church, despite her desire to rest next to her husband in the Krakės cemetery, which was then being prepared for closure. The church's history, closely linked with the Pilsudski family and local cultural heritage, makes this place not only a spiritual center but also a tourist attraction.
