The history of the Krakės Church begins in the mid-15th century, with the first wooden church mentioned in documents from 1478. In 1768, funded by Bishop J. D. Lapacinskis, a new wooden church was built here. Between 1897 and 1908, the current masonry Church of St. Apostle and Evangelist Matthew was constructed, distinguished by its Neo-Gothic and Neo-Baroque features, a cruciform plan with a three-sided apse, and a tall tower. Inside, the church is divided into three naves separated by pillars, with cylindrical vaults. The church's interior is adorned with paintings and sculptures of saints.
