In Skuodas district, in the town of Mosėdis, near the Bartuva River, lies a significant burial and memorial site dedicated to Lithuanian partisans. This secluded island, accessible via a wooden bridge on its southeastern side, is home to a monument commemorating the fallen fighters of the Kardo Unit. The central feature of this site is a stone chapel with a cross and shields, surrounded by ritual stones sourced from the renowned Mosėdis Stone Museum. This historical memorial honors the partisans who fought and perished between 1944 and 1953. In 1991, the people of Mosėdis erected this monument, designed by architect Alfredas Gytis Tiškus and crafted by master Vladas Lumbis, in remembrance of the fallen.

The burial site in Mosėdis, Skuodas district, has become a crucial historical and cultural landmark. Located at the southern edge of the Bartuva River valley, it marks the resting place of the Kardo Unit partisans who resisted Soviet occupation. The wooden bridge leads to the memorial island, surrounded by oxbow lakes and the river. The monument, resembling a stone chapel with a cross and shields, commemorates the fighters who fell between 1944 and 1953. It is adorned with corner buttresses and specially crafted shields featuring the Vytis and the Columns of Gediminas, symbolizing
respect for the partisans. The site also showcases stones with ritualistic details from the Mosėdis Stone Museum, echoing Lithuanian traditions. Names of the fallen are inscribed here, including prominent partisans like Juozas Adomauskas, Pranas Jonušas, and Adolfas Liebaus. The location, which recalls the executions carried out by the Soviet NKVD, was enhanced as part of a unique stone museum display in the Bartuva valley. The 1991 memorial for the partisans was established by local residents, supported by architect Alfredas Gytis Tiškus and craftsman Vladas Lumbis.
