This oval-shaped hill, covering 3 hectares, is the highest elevation in the area, with gentle slopes. In 1568, a chapel was built on Alka Hill, but it burned down in 1964. Ancient graves can also be found at the top of the hill, testifying to the site’s significance for the local community. According to legend, a Lithuanian pagan priest named Alksnys instructed the hill to be built, where sacrifices reflecting pagan traditions were held long ago. Nearby

stood the legendary city of Bareikiai, which, as legend has it, was punished and submerged. Now, only a cemetery and two crosses remain, symbolizing past events. Locals say that a church once stood on the hill, destroyed during the Swedish invasion. Legend has it that the church bells still ring on St. Peter's Day when the priest raises the host. This site not only captivates with its history but also attracts tourists seeking unique experiences and mysteries.
