Paparčiai Hill, also known as Auškalnis, is an impressive historical site near Paparčiai village in Samogitia. The hill is located just 0.9 km from the Paparčiai village cemetery and about 0.15 km from the Varduva River. Legend has it that a church sank into the depths of this hill, and shepherds could hear its bell ringing on Sundays. Another tale speaks of a mill that once stood here, which was destroyed by Perkūnas, the god of thunder. Paparčiai Hill is protected as a cultural heritage site and has been listed in the Register of Immovable Cultural Heritage of the Republic of Lithuania since 2003. This natural and historical heritage site attracts tourists seeking unique places to visit in Lithuania.
