The Mažeikiai Museum is a unique cultural and historical treasure trove that opens doors to the rich past of the Žemaitija region. Through its main exhibition, "Mažeikiai Region: Between Past and Present," visitors can explore the ethnocultural traditions of the Curonians, Semigallians, and Samogitians. The museum showcases exceptional collections of archaeological finds, ethnography, and folk art. Regularly updated thematic exhibitions, creative workshops, symposiums, and scientific conferences provide opportunities to deepen knowledge and express artistic potential. district allow visitors to experience history firsthand, while various cultural projects promote community spirit and patriotism. The exhibition "Freedom Fights in the Mažeikiai Region until 1954" immerses visitors in the dramatic history of the quest for freedom, recreating the scenario of an NKVD-MGB interrogation room and narrating the most significant moments of the freedom struggles. The exhibition highlights the participation of Mažeikiai residents in the Independence Wars, the importance of the 1941 uprising, and the resistance against Soviet occupation in the effort to restore an independent Lithuanian state.
