Lithuanian Partisans' Combat and Death Site (Giraitė Village)

In the Giraitė Forest on December 28, 1951, five partisans from the Dainava District's Šarūnas Battalion from the Mindaugas Homeland were killed: Juozas Bražinskas-Kūkalis (born 1925), Vytautas Salyklis-Eimutis (born 1930), Romualdas Talandis-Svajūnas (born 1933), Feliksas Stepulevičius-Vikruolis (born 1929), and Juozas Petruškevičius-Keleivis (born 1924). After their deaths, the bodies were transported to Lazdijai and laid out near the local militia station. The monument at this site is dedicated to honoring these fighters who sacrificed their lives for Lithuania's freedom.
